Ecological research in support of restoration and conservation
Can conservation grazing help restore prairies and bee communities?
Rapid development of rural lands affects both agriculture and conservation. A new project spearheaded by the EcoStudies Institute brings together ranchers, private rural landowners, and prairie restoration experts in the urbanizing I-5 corridor of western Washington, to benefit all parties. The project connects ranchers with private grazing opportunities, while combining ecologically appropriate grazing strategies with restoration actions desired by landowners. Quamash participates in this project by monitoring the effects of these shared actions on plant-pollinator communities.
This project is supported by the Washington Coast Restoration and Resiliency Initiative.
